88: Nu Shooz, “I Can’t Wait” (no.2, 1986)

Husband-and-wife duo mess about on new-fangled synthesizers; the result is as quintessentially 80s as Neapolitan ice cream, Cherry Coke and David “Kid” Jensen. Later covered by UK R’n’B act Ladies First (amazingly not one-hit wonders, with that name) and effectively employed during a footwear-shopping montage on TV’s The Cleveland Show.
