63: Oran “Juice” Jones, “The Rain” (no.4, 1986)

A tremendous four-minute soap opera. Poor old Oran has just seen his beloved snuggling under another man’s umbrella, and so resolved to take his revenge by cutting up all her charge cards. Sympathy for this spurned lover is first challenged by his frankly awful double-breasted 80s wardrobe, and dissipates entirely during a mid-song spoken interval, in which “the Juice” reveals his initial plan to “do a Rambo” upon the happy couple was thwarted by a desire not to get blood all over his “$3600 lynx coat” (the twit). Its macho chest-beating sparked an inevitable answer record in Miss Thang’s “Thunder and Lightning”; check the 12” mix for added drizzly atmosphere.
